Roland Petit , one of the finest ballet choreographers of the 20th century, has passed away.
Petit was a ballet legend. France’s most famous – even notorious – choreographer revolutionised ballet with his work for Hollywood films and for his provocative, poetic theatricality. His works will be long remembered.
To admire some of his work, go to the Coliseum Theatre from 21st-24th July. The English National Ballet is presenting a triple bill including his sexy and adventurous renowned staging of Carmen.

On Sunday night I had my birthday party… theme: Marie Antoinette. Back to teen-age, to All Stars, to pink, to flowers and rock’n'roll.
I surrounded myself  with my friends to celebrate what has been and what will be.

Just received the loveliest email from my fellow and collaborator Brooke.
She has just finished watching an old piece of mine called Places of Non Belonging. I made this piece when I was still at school and It is the second chapter of a broader project called tRILOGY.
After a long time, I still think this is one of my favourite works of mine.
It’s good to remember good old stuff when you’re making new stuff. Right?

Last night I went to enjoy the Christmas ‘10 present of one of best friends: a ticket to the première of the Royal Ballet’s Romeo & Juliet at the O2 Arena.
Due to the context and the size of the performance space, as a ballet aficionado I was expecting a circus-like performance, with the audience cheering like in a stadium and chewing their pop-corns…
It wasn’t the case: the performers -Carlos Acosta and a surprisingly fresh and strong Tamara Rojo- were absolutely stunning in the leading roles and 12000 people followed their beautiful dancing and kissing for 3 hours, in extraordinary respectful silence and great empathy.
…I did go for “a circus-like performance…”, but I surprisingly found myself and every single spectator, embracing once again the magical ritual of theatre.

…that has just won a prize, Premio Prospettiva Danza 2011 in Padua/IT.

Affected by osteogenesis imperfecta, Chiara had to be operated several times. Each of her scars reminds of a peculiar event of her life, so that she would be able to reconstruct her biography from the memories emerging from her own skin.
Chiara reflects on her own body as a link between past and present, family and self.
From this reflection, the project Family Tree: a series of works created each time by a different artist, called to collaborate with Chiara.
I felt very proud in being asked to create the first fragment of the series, volta.
With this work we won Premio Prospettiva Danza 2011 in Padua/IT, we were asked to perform in 4 festivals and to expand the project.
