Included in her recordings were the Doppler Ultrasound, which is typically used for vascular imaging, and also CT and Dexa Scan Machines. They were able to create and capture some incredible electronic and anatomical sounds that perfectly capture Brooke Robert’s design ethos, ‘Science inspired Design’.
Within this medical sound world tracks by BBC Radiophonic Workshop pioneer Delia Derbyshire are woven together with the music of Corelli and Monterverdi.

Alex Nikiporenko – CiR09 Music – is trying to relate to the absurdist nature of the article and the profound tastes of the Daily Mail readership alike through the combination of wondering, semi-tonal harmonic language and vocal styles ranging from music theatre to sprechstimme.

They’ve created three installations that blew my mind. They are using technology for a real sensory journey and so much could be done with their products.

Initially created for autistic children, the series of rocking robots that they’ve made could be used for major live shows as each of them releases musical notes and it’s connected to Ableton. Perfromers could also easily get involved.

They’ve also managed to merge electronics with the natural environment. Brushing the grass opens up the fan-like blinds above, thanks to the conductivity of the skin detected by sensors under the soil. This could easily be adapted for all sorts of events.

The show was announced as one of the top six shows to see during Design Week and it’s on until the 28th of October.

Inside Playful Minds at the Arts Gallery, University of the Arts London, 272 High Holborn, London, WC1V 7EY continues until 28th October, Mon-Tues 11am-6pm.
