Former Creative in Residence, Lisa Spirling is directing former EastEnders star Lacey Turner (Stacey Slater) in an exciting new play at Soho Theatre. Hundreds and Thousands by Lou Ramsden is a thrilling exploration of how far we’re willing to go to fufill our dreams. Also starring Robert Wilfort (Gavin & Stacey), Sukie Smith (Royal Court) and Stuart Laing (EastEnders) the play is spearheading the launch of the new Upstairs space at Soho Theatre. During her residency at The Hospital Club in 2009, Lisa hosted a reading of the play cast by Gary Davy, one of our founding members.

“thoughtful direction from Lisa Spirling … fantastic performances … demonstrate the wealth of talent available to British theatre”
The Stage

The play is being produced by Lisa’s theatre company Buckle for Dust. For more information about the play and the company, please visit www.bucklefordust.org.uk or follow the company on Twitter http://twitter.com/#!/BuckleforDust

Burrill’s multi-screen installation envisages the city as a living, breathing entity being fed by people’s experiences, using video content accumulated from Londoners via the web campaign…

Below are some stills of the shoot he did last week in The Hospital Club TV studio. Simon projected visuals onto four women bodies reflecting the influence of the city’s flux on our movements.

Music by Alex Nikiporenko. Libretto by Matthew Stone.

You are not who I am.

Ты не тот кто я.

Я не то кто ты.

I am the sea, but see she claims me

That I my be what is now we

In Paradoxy, Lost is a path through multiple musical dimensions in search of unity. The piece strives towards the beauty of simplicity having began in the surreal and sometimes conflicting character. The use of multiple languages in the first half of the piece reflects Matthew Stone’s concept of Multidoxy – the belief that there is single truth, yet many ways to approach it. The music highlights the differences between the singers and the languages used.
