Filmmaker Simon Burrill shooting in the TV studio for Selfridges

Mon

Burrill’s multi-screen installation envisages the city as a living, breathing entity being fed by people’s experiences, using video content accumulated from Londoners via the web campaign…

Below are some stills of the shoot he did last week in The Hospital Club TV studio. Simon projected visuals onto four women bodies reflecting the influence of the city’s flux on our movements.

When and where did you last have a really good night out (not working)….where and why? This is going back but it was probably New Years, Bethnal Green Working Men’s club.  It seemed like all of my friends had spontaneously made exactly the same choice as me.  It felt a the combination of the best bits of a debauched filthy romp and the parties your parents used to drop you off at and pick you up from.

What’s your favourite item of clothing and why?I think it’s my old basketball t-shirt.  It’s aged with me over the past sixteen years!  Can you believe a t-shirt can last that long?  It probably can’t, still.  I like it.  Fuck, I am totally becoming my Dad.

When did you last shed a tear? Last week.  I get ambushed by things.  I hear bad news and I feel like I should feel terrible about it and I make the right faces and say the right things but feel completely empty.  Then, normally a good while later, like last week, I’ll be doing something almost completely unrelated and it’ll hit me.

If you could own any piece of art in the world, what would it be? Rothko’s paintings he did for the restaurant in New York.   I would quite like to get completely lost in one of those.

Who makes you go weak with desire? Phoebe (fucking) Waller (fucking) Bridge

When was the last time you embarrassed yourself to the point that you blush inwardly when you think about it? Not so long ago.  The old text to EXACTLY the wrong person trick.  Ugh.

When was the last time you told a lie? Saturday night.  I said ‘Hello, I’m Joel’ to someone and they said ‘We met!  At Latitude last year?  And we went to university together?  I was in your seminar group?  I changed my hair…’ – it was at exactly that point that I lied.  I’m sorry.

Who is your favourite fictional character? Malvolio from Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, closely followed by Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver.

If you had to represent your life so far in a shoebox, what would you put in it? A pair of really well worn leather brogues.

What album will you keep listening to and never get bored of? ‘Stop Making Sense’ by Talking Heads.

You got a hot date/guest you wanna impress- what do you cook them? I’ve got a really good 30 Minute Recipes cook book.  I’m trying to learn what everything’s called so that when I’m asked this I can give an answer that makes it sound like I wouldn’t take them to Pizza Express.

What song will you have played at your funeral? ‘This Time Tomorrow’ by The Kinks

Should marijuana be legalised? Yes.  And then everyone should be really open about the dangers of it.

What’s the most embarrassing thing on your iPod ‘I’ve Had The Time of My Life’ – by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes

If you could be trapped in a lift with any 3 living people – who would they be? Enda Walsh, The Queen and my brother.

What makes you happy? When a plan comes together.

Julia Corsaro and Destiny…

CiR commissioned emeging photographer graduated from london college of communication, Julia Corsaro, http://www.juliacorsaro.com/ to collaborate with Destiny E karaghato and help her win a pitch.

Together they produced a great mood board for Destiny’s upcoming film.

Julia Corsaro says… “We met in Deptford and spent about 7 HOURSS walking around and taking pictures of locations as well as young actors enacting some of the scenes.
The weather was rather amazing and we got to hang out in hidden places of south london we didnt know anything about. My favorite spot was the stairs leading to the bank of the river, overlooking cannary wharf. We stayed there for a while, waving at boats and at the tall buildings.”

This might be worth looking into
